Selfie the Elfie spent yesterday admiring himself in the mirror. 

Busy little elves from Team Jarrell spent some time on December 11 wrapping gifts for the Mental Health Association and learning more about the work they do in the community.  Our time with the MHA folks gave us some ideas for ways to serve the community in the coming year.

Just a reminder that we will be collecting mittens, scarves, hats and gloves for our mitten tree through this Friday, Dec. 12 for donation to the Salvation Army on Monday. If you are out shopping in the next couple of days and feel like trimming our tree with mittens, gloves, scarves and hats, please do so by all means. Thank you!

Introducing:  Selfie the Elfie!  Selfie will be hiding in a different place at Jarrell Orthodontics every day in December.  For Dr. Kevin's Find the Elf on the Shelf Contest,simply look around the office, find Selfie and write down his location in the office.  That is all it takes for you to be entered to win

The contest will run Dec. 1—18.  The winning entry will be chosen at random from all entries submitted.

Donations are coming in for our mitten tree.  Don't forget we will be collecting mittens, gloves, hats and scarves to put on our mitten tree through Friday, December 12.  Then, all donations will be given to the Salvation Army Monday, December 15 for distribution to those in need.  It's cold out there; everyone needs to be bundled up but not everyone can afford the proper clothing.  We appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Students from Ross Medical Education Center came to Jarrell Orthodontics this week. They were given a first hand look at the work we do with the itero Intra Oral Digital scanner which enables us to take a digital scan of a patient's mouth from which models are made - no more goopy impressions!

Tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 16 is the last day to donate new or gently used coats to the Salvation Army's Coats for Kids program. Our box is overflowing with coats. We thank you for your generosity; we could not be more proud of your willingness to give to this worthy cause. So, last minute donations will be accepted through 1:00 p.m. tomorrow. Thank you again!

The box is full of coats and we still have 1 week to go until we have to turn in all the coats we have collected for the Salvation Army Coats for Kids program!  We cannot thank you enough for your generosity.  We will be collecting new or gently used coats through October 16.  The way things are going, we are certain the box will be overflowing with warm snuggly coats by then.  Thank you again.

Our Kid's Club Outing to Guffey Acres is coming up fast; it's next week Tuesday, October 7 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Don't forget to pick up your wristbands by October 6 as everyone needs a wristband to enter. Take a hay ride, come jump on the corn popper, play in the corn box, try your hand at cow ropin', and get lost in the corn maze with Team Jarrell; we promise to help you find your way out!

Fall is finally here and that means we are getting excited about our 4^th annual Kid’s Club outing to Guffey Acres, October 7 when Guffey Acres will be ours for an evening of “farmtastic” fall fun!

Jarrell Orthodontics’ “invitation only” event will run from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and everyone will need a wristband to enter. Invitations were mailed to Kid’s Club members in early September. If your child is a member of the Kid’s Club and did not receive an invitation, please feel free to come into the office anytime between now and October 7 and pick up your wristbands. Kid’s Club members may have up to 4 wristbands each.

We have the run of the place so we have the corn box, corn popper, corn maze (it is bigger than ever this year and have 3 sections), tube slide, and more all to ourselves. Kids can ride the farm animal barrel train, take the entire family on a hay ride or try to navigate the corn maze which has 3 levels and is bigger and more challenging than ever before. So, there is plenty to see and do. Food and beverage, pumpkins, and fall mums will be available for sale as well.

Jarrell Orthodontics is having a Family Fun Night, September 17 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in our Logansport office to give those interested in Invisalign treatment a look at the smile of their dreams using our iTero scanner and Smile Simulator. School is back in session & we want to see your SCHOOL SPIRIT!

Don't have plans for Saturday, June 14?  Well, you now!  Join the crowd at Foster Park this Saturday, June 14 for Rib Fest!  A fundraiser for Carver Community Center, Rib Fest offers guests yummy ribs and other delicious food along with excellent entertainment...did we mention that Dr. Kevin will be performing with the Jason Skaggs band as well?  The Jason Skaggs band will hit the stage at 6:00 so be sure you see our famous Doc as he rocks out with his peeps!

Get Ready for an Action Packed Summer

Team Jarrell is gearing up for an action packed summer!  Our 2014 version of Flat Dr. Kevin will begin next week so patients are encouraged to join in the fun and take pictures of themselves this summer with Flat Dr. Kevin for a chance at some great prizes.  Patients may see the member of Team Jarrell dishing up servings of strawberry shortcake at the Strawberry Festival in downtown Kokomo on Thursday, June 5.  And, last but not least, our 2014 Beach Bash has been set for Thursday, July 10 at Kokomo.  It's going to be quite a summer for all!

It's been snowing on and off all day, but the members of Team Jarrell are still excited to be taking some time later this afternoon to assist the Greater Kokomo Alliance.  We will be helping plant the flower cuttings that will eventually grow into the beautiful flower baskets that will adorn downtown Kokomo later this spring, summer and fall.  The Alliance has done an outstanding job helping to beautify downtown and we are proud to be able to lend a hand to their efforts.

Team Jarrell traveled to Chicago last week for a few days of educational seminars.  Everyone had a great time at the meeting, learned a lot, and loved Chicago.  It's always good to get away but it's equally as good to come home and see the smiling faces of our patients!

Today we celebrate Read Across America Day!  Books can set our imaginations on fire and take us to places we might never see in person.  We pity the person who has never blown past their bedtime caught up in a book so good it's almost impossible to put down.  What book sets your imagination on fire? 

Team Jarrell Gets Ready for Jarrell Jeopardy

The members of Team Jarrell are gearing up for one of their favorite activities during lunch this Wednesday:  Jarrell Jeopardy.  What started as a "team building" exercise for a single staff meeting has become an annual tradition.  Team members have to give Alex Trebek (Carrie) 5 things no one knows about them which she groups into categories on a Jeopardy Board.  During the competition, team members blow into party horns to ring in and try to guess which team member is being described.  Needless to say, Jarrell Jeopardy is a blast with the sound of horns honking, a lot of shouting and much laughter.  Makes for a great lunch activity!

Attention Patients:  if you have an appointment Wednesday, February 12 or Thursday, February 13, be sure to wear hearts!  The members of Team Jarrell will be wearing hearts to celebrate Valentine's Day and you are encouraged to do the same!  Patients who wear hearts to their appointments on Feb. 12 and 13 will be entered to win a $10 gift card of their choice.  So, show us your heart; we will be looking for it!

It's February and Cupid has been shooting hearts as fast as he can. Our office is a mess with hearts stuck everywhere! In Dr. Kevin’s "Count the Cupids" Contest (actually count the Hearts Cupid has thrown around), patients are asked to give us their best guess as to the number of hearts scattered around the office. The prize for our February contest is a Kodak EasyShare C195 Digital Camera. The contest will run February 3 - February 28. The winner will be chosen at random from all correct entries submitted or the guess that comes the closest. So, start counting hearts, everyone!

Love that our assistants care enough about our patients to take the time to show them their x-rays when they are interested. Great job, Ashley, showing your patient what Dr. Kevin sees on the x-rays we take!
